[According to news reports] On May 21, “Newport News Daily” in a report said that in recent years, the number of cigarette stores, and vape stores in Virginia, the United States continues to rise, and more than half of the profits of cigarette stores is from vape.
According to media reports, there are more than 20 vape stores in Newport News, Virginia, and most of these vape stores are opening after 2021; there are 28 vape stores in Hampton, with 21 opening after 2020; and there are 29 vape stores in Norfolk, with nine opening after 2021.
Citing data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the report noted that the use of traditional cigarettes has declined significantly in recent years, with only 11.5 percent of Americans currently smoking, a significant decrease from 21 percent in 2005. However, vape products have played an important role in bridging this gap, with the highest percentage of use among young people in particular.
Reports also reveal that local vape retail store owners have said that one of the key reasons they opened vape stores is to be able to sell marijuana products in the future. It is understood that Virginia legalized marijuana in 2021 and that sales licenses will be issued starting this July, but actual sales will start in 2024.
