Luton Police Seize 2,500 Illegal Disposable Vape Products
Luton police in the United Kingdom seized about 2,500 illegally operated disposable Vape products with an estimated value of £17,500 on May 9, according to a BBC report on May 18.
The operation was a joint raid by Luton Council Trading Standards and Bedfordshire Police. The search took place at premises in the Burley Park area of Luton Town, where investigators also found hookahs being poured into unlabelled plastic tins for sale.
To date, Luton police have seized 11,000 items of illegally operated Vape.
Hazel Simmons, leader of Luton City Council, said the illegal operation of items such as Vape is often tied to broader organized crime activities.
According to the council, the illegal operation of Vape products is more dangerous than regulated Vape devices and tobacco. They are often sold to schoolchildren and children under the age of 18, according to the resting authorities.
Ms. Simmons added, “The sale of illegally operated Vape and tobacco to evade taxes is unfair to compliant businesses.”
