Vaping and Nicotine Products Gain Popularity in Switzerland

Furthermore, according to a comprehensive survey report by the Swiss Health Behavior in School-aged Children (HBSC), 15-year-old adolescents have started using e-cigarettes and other tobacco and nicotine products extensively.

Data from the 2022 HBSC survey in Switzerland indicates that, in the past 30 days, 25% of 15-year-olds have used e-cigarettes, 16% have smoked cigarettes, 12% have used both e-cigarettes and cigarettes, and 9% have used oral tobacco products during this period.

These findings have led the Swiss Association for Smoking Prevention to call for the inclusion of e-cigarette and oral tobacco product usage in the assessment of smoking prevalence. The association emphasizes that smoking not only leads to higher healthcare costs for smokers but is also a significant avoidable risk factor for numerous non-communicable diseases.
