Russia’s State Duma Strongly Calls for Tighter Regulation of Vape Retail Stores
On July 12, according to the official website of the Russian State Duma, during the “Government Time” event with the participation of government departments, the Chairman of the Russian State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin (ВячеславВолодин) emphasized in particular the need to take effective measures against companies that sell alcoholic beverages (so-called “moonshine”) or sell cigarettes and e-cigarettes in residential buildings across the country. “moonshine”) or companies selling cigarettes and e-cigarettes in residential buildings.
Volodin noted:
“E-cigarettes and vaping devices placed in current stores are not tracked or regulated, despite the fact that federal law explicitly prohibits the sale to minors, and the display of these products in retail outlets. Thus, we need to be acutely aware of the need to regulate where we are causing harm and danger to the health of our citizens.”
Volodin made a point of emphasizing that this is not just the call of one party representative, but the position of an entire group of legislators. He adds:
“We must regulate where there is harm to citizens’ health, especially children’s health.”
He also pointed out that counterfeit products should be monitored.
